Those two had pretty good turn outs and, I think, helped some folks get a start down the path of understanding the RED workflow a bit more. But, hey, in the ever evolving world of RED and digital cinema that was an age ago.

So, we'll be working with SWAMP to deliver an updated review of both working with the camera in production and the post production of RED footage. Scott will be covering the camera part and I'll be walking through the post info.

A lot has changed and evolved in just over the summer for RED post, from file format to software support. So for me, the plan is to get participates as knowledgeable about the ends at outs of the RED R3D format so that they'll be able to confidently build their own workflows based on whatever hardware/software combos they have.

The workshop is Saturday, December 5th from 10am to 4:30pm, and it looks like SWAMP wants you to RSVP, so get cracking. Cost is free to SWAMP members or you can join for just $40, then it's really free.

dodging the snow leopard

As neat and flashy as the new OSX Snow Leopard looks, I'll be avoiding for a few months at least. Between various bugs that have effected numerous up-graders (poor Jason Wingrove seemed to tweet every other day about some new disaster) and the fact that we are still waiting on word for the 64bit Final Cut and what surprises it may hold, we may not upgarde until it's absolutely neccesary. In other words, when our Red workflow demands it.

But, I do read mostly good things for average usage (email, web, etc.), so if you have an Intel Mac that's not doing anything mission critical, go for it. I would recommend disabling the Guest account though.
